I have agreed not to divulge details regarding my agreement with Mazda, but I believe it is safe to say that we have come to a reasonable agreement. As such, I sincerely hope I don’t have any reason to write about any new incidents with my 2007 Mazda RX-8 GT. 🙂
I believed it helped to bring the Better Business Bureau into the mix, and if you are having problems with a car I recommend that you do the same. Having a third party witness the events and communications tends to make everyone more aware of their actions.
In the end, I did not have to engage a lawyer; so I am probably going to replace it with another RX-8. I had sworn that if Mazda made me ‘fight’ to return my car I would never buy from them again. While I feel that I was given unnecessary run-around when I first contacted them about repurchasing my car, once my case was passed along to someone with the power to make a decision things were resolved quickly and painlessly.
If all goes well, this will be my last post about my 2007 RX-8.

Cool – glad to see it worked out for you. Zoom Zoom!!!!
I vote for a 2008 Rx 8 in the Stormy Micah blue.
So I can drool over your sexy car and wish I had one of my own 😛
Alternately, you’d look great in black.
I’m thinking this one!

Very nice. Black has always been a vehicle color choice for me.
I just got my hands on a 2006 RX8. Did you wind up replacing your lemon with another RX8?
I do have to say getting an iPod dock installed was a real challenge. I had to ask about eight different shops before I found one that would do it. It sounds quite sweet.
Today, my windshield washer quit working. The wipers work fine, but the washer fluid pump isn’t working. I sure hope that it isn’t the start for a whole long list of troubles.
Howdy Emily,
I have not yet replaced my RX-8. With the price of gas soaring, and my wife already having a car that gets great mileage, and my finally having got off my arse and fixed the exhaust on my bike, I took the lemon settlement and bought a stack of gold coins that is sitting in a safe deposit box. 🙂
I’ve got to ask: What do you think of the control interface used by the iPod kit? I am a computer geek, and I found it to be cryptic as hell. I had playlists I could never access via the stereo interface.
I too had a windshield washer fluid pump issue, but that didn’t start until after the shop had replaced my entire wiring harness and in doing so introduced half a dozen new problems. Maybe when your shop installed the iPod kit they jostled the motor wiring loose and it took a few road bumps to finally disengage? Should be easy enough for them to check out without causing too much hassle.
I do miss my RX-8, and every other week or so I want to go to the dealership and give the 2008 models a test drive. I just don’t like the front end changes they made to the 2009, though that might change if I go in and look in person instead of relying on the photos on the Mazda site. 🙂
Good luck with your RX-8. It’s an awesome car!

About to start down this path myself.
Car been in 3 times for “flooded” engine design flaw. The time though I have been told that one of the rotors has dropped – no compression. The flooding is a symptom of this event, most obvious sign being the drop in power from compression loss. But now up for a complete engine replacement – unless Mazda Australis see the value is positive customer service.
