This is the original doc file for Nuke. Needless to say, the address listed, as well as the BBS phone numbers, are long dead.

INTRODUCTION

NUKE came about one night when I was playing with a new accounting system,
and found that it had created a tree of over 40 directories. All of which
had files in them. Even with the help of PC Tools, removing the package
was going to be quite a pain. Being the stubborn person that I am, I would
  rather spend 20 minutes writing a utility, than spend 5 deleting directories;
  and so was born NUKE.
There have been several improvements over the original version, and I would
like to thank Tim Schramm and John Monteen of Master Computer Systems for
their testing and suggestions. Not many people want to play with a utility
designed to erase entire directory trees...

DESCRIPTION

NUKE is a utility for removing unwanted directories, and all that lay
under them. It uses only DOS calls, and though this may be slower than some
similar utilities, it is more compatible with the wide variety of systems
set up by users around the world.

COMPATIBILITY

NUKE has been tested on the following operating systems:

    VP/ix 1.1, under 386/ix 2.2
    MS DOS 3.2
    MS DOS 3.3
    MS DOS 5.00
    Compaq DOS 3.31
    Compaq DOS 5.00
    Novell ELS Level II 2.15
    Novell Advanced Netware 2.12
    Novell Advanced Netware 2.15
    Novell Advanced Netware SFT 2.12
    Novell Advanced Netware 386 3.1

NUKE has been tested on the following hard drive controller types:

    MFM
    RLL
    ESDI
    IDE

If you use NUKE on an operating system not listed here, please contact
  the author, Chris Knight.

DISCLAIMER

NUKE works on my system. Period. I like it. Period. I do not warranty
NUKE on your system, nor to I warranty that it won't eat your computer for
lunch. If you use this utility, it is of your own free will, and only
you can be held liable for any damages your use of this program may cause.
I hate to put this stuff in my docs, but I'd REALLY HATE getting a letter
from someone's lawyer because they are using some pseudo-compatible, almost
CP/M operating system, or some super-hacked op/system of the future, and
manage to fry their data. If you have any doubts about the compatability of
your operating system, please test NUKE on floppies. I hate seeing anyone
  lose precious data.

USAGE

    NUKE pathname [/N:filespec] [/P] [/Y]

    Switches

/N:filespec Delete specific files within tree; wildcards allowed.
If this option is used more than once, the last filespec
will be the one used. When used, NUKE defaults /P and does
                    not try to remove directories.

/P Preserve directory tree; default option for /N
This option deletes the files, but leaves the directories
behind. This option came about when I NUKE'd my Telegard
C:\BBS directory, restored my ZIP'd backup, and found all
the TEMP directories missing. PKZIP hadn't preserved them
                    because they contained 0 files.

/Y No prompt, for batch files.
NUKE usually prompts you before it wantonly destroys a
directory; not so if this option is used.

CONTACT and UPDATES

Updates will be written whenever someone reports a bug, or gives me a new
feature they would like to see NUKE handle.
If you have a bug to report or suggestion to make, I can be reached at
  THE UNDERGROUND BBS - 219/756-9665 - 1:230/13 or
  JJ708683@PUCAL - BITNET - Comments only, I won't send updates through BITNET.

The latest version will always be available on The Underground. If there
isn't a newer copy on The Underground than the one you have, it doesn't
  exist!
I admit that I'll handle the suggestions of registered owners a bit faster
than those of non-registered owners. Registration is easy, just send me a
postcard; money won't be refused, but a postcard will satisfy my curiosity
about how wide-spread my program has gotten.

  Peace and love!
